Introducing fabsticky 1.0
fabsticky is here — a floating sticky-notes app for Windows built for people who want quick notes that stay visible without getting in the way. Here's everything in this first release.
Notes that live on your screen
- Floating notes that stay on top of every window, and fade to translucent when you're not using them.
- Open as many notes as you want, drag and resize them freely.
- Double-click a note's title bar to collapse it down to just the title, and back again.
- Arrange Notes lays every visible note out in a tidy grid with one click.
Rich text formatting
Bold, italic, underline, and strikethrough, bullet lists, font family and size, and text color — all from a small toolbar built into every note. URLs are automatically detected and turned into clickable links (right-click a link for Open Link in Browser).
Customize the look
Six preset background colors per note, and a word-wrap toggle for notes with long lines.
Global hotkeys
- Ctrl + Alt + N — show or hide all notes at once (customizable).
- Ctrl + Alt + O — force all notes fully opaque, even when unfocused (customizable).
Password-protected notes
Lock any note with a password from its menu. Locked notes are encrypted with AES-256 (PBKDF2-derived key, 100,000 iterations, random salt and IV per note) and automatically re-lock every time fabsticky restarts.
Your notes, your way
Autosave keeps everything backed up to disk as you type, move, and resize. Choose where notes are stored via Change Notes Location... in the tray menu — point it at a Syncthing, Google Drive, OneDrive, or Dropbox folder to keep notes in sync across computers.
Lives quietly in the tray
No taskbar clutter, no separate main window — fabsticky runs entirely from the system tray, with an optional Start with Windows toggle so it's ready right after you log in.
